I am very happy that I found this book, as I have been trying to learn more about the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for quite some time now and with Ace Mc Cloud’s book I finally found the answers I was looking for and even more! I knew that the carpal tunnel syndrome was something that you could get by performing repetitive tasks, but now I also have learnt that there are other factors that can cause it. I really enjoyed the chapter about preventing this syndrome, everyone can get affected by it, as most of us…use computers and typing is a repetitive task! I have tried some of the stretching exercises that Ace described, and I felt an immediate relief! There is also a chapter on the actual carpal tunnel syndrome cure: standard medical treatments, as well as herbal treatments( I knew about St John’s Wort but only thanks to this book I have actually discovered that it can also be used to treat the carpal tunnel syndrome)and of course regular massage! I am very happy with what I have learnt from this book. Last year I started working as a massage therapist and I want to know everything about all the possible syndromes that my clients may be suffering from. I purchased this book for the office. The first 49 pages are "Cryptic Crossword Puzzles" that have NOTHING to do with Carpal Tunnel. Then there are exactly 10 pages of information on Carpal Tunnel which reads like a high schooler's essay on the subject. For good measure they've stuffed some a couple of pages of poorly designed black and white advertisements for Ace's other books into it as well. Any review giving this 5 stars is a shill, I guarantee it. Do not buy (unless you're in the market for a crossword puzzle book? Or a book that you can pretend to be reading at work to engage in self-care while you're actually doing crossword puzzles on the sly?). Try "Treat Your Own Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Treatment and Prevention" instead.

I've been working on computers for more than 10 years and recently I found out that I have carpal tunnel syndrome and since then I've reading a lot of information about it and doing treatments. I am not an academic, nor a theologian, but I do have a strong interest in what the Bible has to say about "things to come." Our men's group spent several weeks on the Book of Daniel last year covering fulfilled and yet-to-be fulfilled prophecy which tweaked my interest. I enjoy Joel C. Rosenberg's novels and his prophecy references in "The Ezekiel Option" further encouraged my interest to study prophecy. I am also fortunate to be in the Sunday morning Adult Bible Fellowship class taught by Dr. Paul Enns (author of Moody's "Handbook of Theology," "Heaven Revealed" and others) who was a student of Dr. Pentecost and who considers Dr. Pentecost's book "Things To Come" as the definitive work on eschatology/prophecy. So I purchased the book and am working through it! This is an exceptional academic work that appears to present all sides of biblical interpretation. It is detailed and the reference book for graduate level theology classes. If you are anything like me, this is not a book you will read quickly or without some effort...and I'll guess you'll have your dictionary close by as you do. That said, I am completely enjoying Dr. Pentecost's work! It is divided into chapters that allow skipping around, so I do not feel limited to reading sequentially. It is a superb reference and I have gained important insight to why literal interpretation of scripture is "the way to go!" This is a long time read and a lasting reference for anyone who thinks about such issues as the rapture, tribulation, unconditional covenants, the "true" Israel and "things to come!" It is five stars in my book!

I read this some 30 years ago, it was the first scholarly work I had ever read. I remember I read this with a dictionary next to me to look up all the words I had never run across before. 30 years later it was a much easier read. Still needed the dictionary occasionally. The book is still relevant today and if you are pre-tribulational rapture and premillennial second advent you will enjoy this study. If you are not either of those I recommend this book to get the pre-trib and pre-mil viewpoint from the horses mouth instead of reading it's opponents self built straw men and then tearing them down. Enjoy!

This book is very orderly, structured and focuses on the Scriptures. It explains the various methods of interpretation (hermaneutics) and the various timings of the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ (models of future end-times events).There is a take-home for every Christian: (1) how you interpret the Bible has a big impact on your life and (2) what you think of the future strongly influences your ministry.Great reference on two hot topics in Bible prophecy!

This work was introduced to me as a tool for a verse-by-verse study of the book of Revelation. It, however, offered virtually nothing of the kind as such a standard is well below the work entailed. As I began to read I had a deep sense of disappointment as almost all of the other works my wife and me have turned to for a teachable understanding of God’s word were either language books or commentary. Herein I found the most sweeping, broadened, and holistic overview of the entire Bible in it’s relationship to the book of Revelation I have ever applied the discipline of reading to seek out. Complete overhaul of my understanding of both OT prophecy and many of the very words of Jesus himself! Excellent read... Thank you Dwight!

I'm a late blooming Masters and PhD. student writing a course in Eschatology. While most books on the subject are either apologetic or expository or in part on prophetic themes, this book is different. Pentecost looks at the entire prophetic program wholly revealed. Dr. Pentecost looks into Hermeneutical methods and their history, the interpretation of prophecy at the time of Christ and the apostles. Pentecost goes into prophetic revelation through Biblical types, symbols, parables, and dreams/ecstasies. He then delves into the importance of God's everlasting covenants and their importance to Eschatology. Next, the most relevant portion--the prophecies of the present age. He goes into the various positions on the rapture discussed academically. He also discusses the events for the Church after the rapture, something that few have approached. Finally, Pentecost discusses the tribulation purposes, revelation and more. Easy to read for the non-academic and deep enough for the graduate student who is writing a course in Eschatology. My thanks to one of the great teachers of the Bible in our lifetime, Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost.

This is the most comprehensive reference book for all serious about the Bible, and especially prophecy. It addresses all the prophetic Scriptures in an easy to understand manner and puts them in the proper category. I bought his as a much younger Christian and Bible student and it helped me better understand God's Word and timeline.For those serious about the Bible, this is a must have.

Although this is a very in depth look of the end times, I find it helpful when I use it as a resource to teach the book of Revelation. Written from a pretribulation and millennial viewpoint, some of the major highlights hit home to me so that I am able to write my lesson plans from it.It is an intense read, however, noting the key principles as I skim through the major section of the book gives me a better understanding of things we are really not able to predict.

Books on effective dictation are rare. You will find few outside of Jefferson D. Bates's "Writing out loud: the time-saving art of dictation" (Acropolis Books, 1990) which was well written, contained a load of hints, but was very dated. Bates' work was a revision, however, of an even older and more dated work: "Dictating Effectively: A Time-saving Manual" (Acropolis Books, 1981). A lot has changed in dictation technology in 34 years, and two entirely new generations of writers are re-discovering it.Cindy Grigg's book, which I stumbled on browsing through her blog, is an up-to-date, light and breezy read, that nevertheless packs in a load of useful information that can be acted on, without being dry or overly technical, and in an encouraging tone of voice.She gives a good basic overview of composing and authoring by dictation, it's benefits to the author, and includes some very helpful drills that are useful with Voice Recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking.I the reviews and looked at a few comments on the blogosphere before buying (including Monica Leonelle's, author of "Dictate Your Book: How To Write Your Book Faster, Better, and Smarter" - which is *also* a very good introduction to the art of composing text by voice, dictating. I recommend reading her book too). I wasn't sure if I was sold on the idea of the drills, or that I needed them.I was wrong; the drills are immensely helpful.I've dictated with Dragon Naturally Speaking for about 2 years now, and was surprised how helpful simply running through the drills was. I didn't even follow the 4-week plan, but simply read through it over about a week. Even without going through her exact program, I did quickly run-through of each chapter's drills, even when away from my computer, for example sitting on my sofa pretending to be online, or at a cafe during my lunch break, reading through the chapters on the Kindle, talking the drills out to myself all the while (discretely of course). Somehow this breeze through of the drills really did help me. I think it's a sort of "greasing the grooves" cognitive fixation/adaptation sort of thing. By this I mean that the drill repetition helped me adapt to the process of simply just dictating. That by using words that were not my own, from various well known works of literature, and repeating the punctuation and dictation commands, this helped me mentally overcome a kind of hump, so to speak, that I felt stuck at.Sounds woo-woo? Perhaps, but just have an open mind, and give it a try. I guarantee you that if you sit down for a week, and daily work your way through this rather short book, while actually verbalizing the drills (whether you're actually AT a computer, or just sitting elsewhere pretending to be) you will feel more comfortable with the process of dictating at the end of that week. If you actually do her 4 week program, based on my results from just half-behind breezing through it, I'm sure you will have even better results

Cindy Grigg wrote a nice guide on dictation. It is a thoughtful work that can be helpful and I have no complaints. In my opinion, though, the only way to get comfortable with dictating is to force it. Dictate a story. Or just brainstorm a story. And also, that Dragon software is a dinosaur. Google provides a BETTER and FREE option for voice transcription. The dragon has to get used to your accent, but Google voice works excellent with no training. I dictate with Google by opening a Google Drive Word document. Then click "Tools" and then "Voice typing". Save your money. That dragon company won't be around in five years.

Setting up the software and hardware is one thing, but the real challenge with dictation is training the human. Making the transition from typing to dictation can be very difficult. Cindy outlines a step by step process than can really help.

Clear and concise. Helped me identify appropriate technology and apply a good strategic approach to increasing my daily word count.

Oddly enough this book was mentioned as a resource in Monica's Leonelle's "Dictate Your Book". That book didn't cut it for me, so I thought of giving this one a try. Glad I did.

You can practice dictation on your own, and get what you need from YouTube, however, what I liked about this book was the GUIDED practice. For each new dictation skill, the author chooses literary excerpts for the reader to dictate that will reinforce that specific skill. As a reader, you are guided on how to speak the dictation commands, and then you have a chance to redo the exercise without the hand-holding. The author also paces the book over 27 days, so you have a nice little timeline to follow. You know that if you're diligent, by the end of 27 days you would have picked up a new and efficient skill.

This book is about the causes belli of the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. As others have pointed out, and notwithstanding the title, it is not really about “Napoleon III [of France] vs. King William [of Prussia]”. Rather, it is more about the French foreign minister Gramont vs. hubris. (To that end, perhaps it is indeed a “duel of giants”.) I consider this work to be essential reading for anyone trying to understand WWI and WWII (more on that later).This book is essentially a revisionist history, taking on the traditionalist view that Prussia (and Bismarck in particular) choreographed the whole series of events in order to provoke a war between France and Prussia in 1870, for the ostensible purpose of unifying the German states and Prussia into a singular German Reich. The author (Wetzel) takes the apparent position that blame for the war lies mostly (if not solely) at the feet of France (and Gramont in particular), and that Bismarck only took advantage of the situation late in the game (and indeed, after the war was won) for the war which he believed would have to eventually come at some point in time.This book is basically written by an academic historian for the benefit of other historians – i.e., it is written with the understanding that the reader is familiar with the traditionalist view of events leading up to the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. As such, anyone who is not familiar with the “traditionalist view” ought to do some research (e.g., Wikipedia regarding the “Franco-Prussian war”) before taking up this book. (Notwithstanding my own internet research, I’m still at a loss to understand why France felt slighted by the 1866 “Peace of Prague” which resulted from the Austro-Prussian war of 1866, which appears to have been the source of great resentment by France against Prussia. And Wetzel does nothing to help in this regard.) So if Wetzel wanted to make his book more approachable to armchair historians (versus to a limited audience of fellow professional historians), he might had dedicated 2 or 3 pages to providing a bit more background.I would like to commend the author for the following: (i) In most histories of this kind, the cast of characters can become very confusing to the reader. While Wetzel does not provide a specific “cast”, the Index (which is heavily focused on the persons involved) provides brief descriptions of the positions of the different persons mentioned in the text. (ii) I wish that more historians would follow the approach of Wetzel. That is, he presents his case like a prosecuting attorney, citing to evidence and making rational arguments. There is no apparent bias. I would very much like for Wetzel to write similarly well balanced histories on the causes belli of WWI and WWII.As indicated above, I believe this work to be essential reading for anyone trying to understand the causes belli of WWI and WWII. Following the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, France had to cede to Germany the Alsace-Lorraine regions of France. This seems to have stuck in the craw of the French until 1914, when they then aligned themselves with Russia in the hope of forcing Germany into a two-front war, with the prospects of regaining Alsace-Lorraine – which they did, at the cost of 17 million dead French people, near bankruptcy, and enormous devastation to cities and towns. But did the French then learn their lesson? Nope. In 1939 they tied themselves to England with the “Guarantee” to Poland in the hope of putting down a resurgent Germany, and in 1940 they basically lost their country to Germany. It’s as if they never got over the ignominy of their losses in the “Congress of Vienna” (1814-1815) following the defeat of Napoleon and his quest for total domination of Europe. They did not learn their lesson in 1815, in 1870, in 1914, or in 1940. Pretty much a lot of blame for WWII (and the ultimate rise of the Soviet Union) can be placed at the feet of France. Of course, Britain shares some culpability for both WWI and WWII for trying to protect its empire by attempting to maintain a “balance of power” within continental Europe, and thus encouraging French alliances against Germany (with Russia regarding WWI, and with England regarding Poland in WWII). France provided fuel for the fires, England provided oxygen for the fires, and Germany was the unwilling spark to ignite their combustible mixture.My only negative comment regarding this book would be the author’s use of French phrases without accompanying translations. Excusez-moi, mais Je ne parle pas français [with my apologies for my poor French].One additional observation regarding this book: it is an excellent primer in “how to (and how not to) manage a sensitive situation”. The bottom line is that a sensitive situation (whatever the circumstances) is best managed by a first attempt via quiet negotiations, and not by initially going public with histrionics (as did Gramont). This philosophy applies not only to international relationships, but also to workplace and family relationships. Quiet diplomacy should always be the first recourse in any conflict, and failing that, only then should an aggrieved party go public. France miserably failed this lesson in 1870, to their ultimate defeat in 1940.

Most Americans don't know a lot about the intrigues that led up to the French declaration of war against Prussia in 1870, a calamity that led to the downfall of Napoleon III and his Second Empire. This book aims to bring light to that era, and does it fairly well. I think, however, that this was not written for the casual reader, but rather for those who already possess some knowledge of the personalities and issues of the day. Often the author speaks about some person or incident as if the reader should know about this man or thing already. With no explanation given, the lay reader is at a complete loss to understand what's happening, or who's doing something. Also, the language of the work does not allow easy reading; it's more academically oriented, with many references to other historians and their works and opinions on the subject. I did learn much that I didn't know before, howver, particularly about the famous Ems telegram, and the author's opinion that it was not the overriding cause of the war that I had always believed it to be. For that alone, I thought this book worth reading.

This is an inadequate analysis of the causes of the Franco-Prussian War IF it is the only non-fiction history you will read on the subject. This slim volume is devoid of the depth and detail that distinguishes studies such as " The Franco-Prussian War : The German Conquest of France in 1870-1871" by Geoffrey Wawro, (also available here on Amazon). The only value Wetzel's book has is that it can serve as a refresher if you were formerly very well versed on the subject of the Franco-Prussian War and you have temporarily mislaid every other book on the subject in your library.

No candidate could hope to win without total permission of France. Wetzel analyzes Bismarck's complex policy toward the succession and France and comes to some non traditional conclusions.Wetzel follows the actions of Bismarck and Napoleon 3, as well as the actions and mistakes of their individual subordinates. We see the expertise of French diplomats such as Visconti-Venesto and Benedetti. Most of all we see the belligerence of Gramont, who left no mistake untried.This book is not always easy to read, since Wetzel goes into great detail about the actions of all the diplomats involved. Great read for extra information on wildflowers. This book provides interesting facts about common wildflowers that identification books don’t provide. Each flower has a back story on its origins, uses, interesting facts, how to grow, best practices on harvesting (or not harvesting) and pollination information. I live in Pennsylvania and have encountered almost every flower in this book and loved making the connections to the flowers I find and understanding more about each one. I definitely learned a lot from this book and it is very informative and interesting.

I love this book, and the author obviously loves the wildflowers he writes about. In case a flower should be unfamiliar to you each one is illustrated by a photograph taken by the author. He has chosen to include flowers which were not originally native to North America, because have spread and become familiar in this country.The book is divided into three sections according to seasons of flowering, and in each section they are arranged by blooming season.The best thing about this book is the amazing amount and variety of information that the author has gathered about each plant, explanations of the origins of Latin names, folk uses and names, information about related plants, historic references and much more.If you have even the slightest interest in the wildflowers that are all around us, if we only look, then you need this book

This is simply a wonderful addition to any library. I was looking for a native wildflower handbook with a little extra, but this surpassed my expectations. You don't need to be a botanist or a naturalist to enjoy this offering. It has tidbits of fascinating information about native U.S. wildflowers, from its history to medicinal uses to mythological lore. The layout is nice and there are many additional artistic touches here and there to make it a pleasure to read.I guarantee you'll never look at a wildflower the same way after reading this little gem.

As a docent in the Meadow Garden at Longwood Gardens, I find lots of useful information in this book to share with guests about the wildflowers growing there. It is a helpful tool.

wonderful bits of information in it. Like the connection between bumblebees and the trout lily. Who knew?! my only frustration is the size of the print....very small. But that won't stop me from reading the rest of it.

I'm currently reading the book and it's just full of interesting facts and lore about wildflowers. Great photos really add to the text. It's not too technical and it's not too simplistic. I'm a master gardener and I still am learning lots of cool stuff about wildflowers.

This book is FULL of information. I like my copy so much I had to get one for my daughter. Font is small, but the book would be very big if the font were bigger.

I am starting a wildflower area by my pond. I like the information. What fun!
