Her main goal is to prevent A.I. singularities from happening and taking over. She is designed to live in this world and if A.I.s were to take over she would not fit in so well.Emergent picks up where Unbound left off. Synthia is on the run and barely escapes a trap laid by government agencies. She also has to avoid the other androids that are trying to absorb or kill her. She also must deal with a new A.I. that wants to use her to escape his confinement.If you're looking for an android vs android vs A.I. vs humans story this book is for you!

I have followed the Android Chronicles from the first book and watched Synthia Cross change and grow. The plot has kept her on the run for the entire series and with Emergent she faces her last battle. I wondered how this would end and if Synthia would even survive. She is very smart and using her brain and the programs she has completed for herself she arrives at a interesting solution. She is still around and she is still watching to make sure there are no other androids to cause trouble in the world. A nice ending when it looked like it was not possible.I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

In the book Emergent, author Lance Erlick continues the story of Synthia, the most advanced artificial intelligence android ever built. And she is fighting to keep other AI’s, the FBI, special ops or several other foreign government groups from capturing her and making a super army by replicating her. And now someone keeps trying to draw her to join them. Who is this mysterious voice she keeps hearing?This was a good fast paced book that continues the series. I would recommend this book.I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Emergent is the story of the perfect human/android weapon on the run. Honestly, I thought I would enjoy this book much more than I did. I got lost somewhere and I stayed confused for most of the story. The concept is a bit far fetched for me. Overall, it was not what I expected. Unfortunately, it's not my type of book. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I am a fairly morbid person so I find books about death to be fascinating. This book did not disappoint in that regard; I found it very interesting and entertaining. However, as other reviewers have said, there are many mistakes in this book. There are factual errors regarding the deaths at Disneyland and the Heaven's Gate cult, for example. These errors were so glaring that I do not know how the author could have screwed up his facts so badly. Even the most basic of research would have eliminated these mistakes. So although I found the book enjoyable to read, I could not trust what I was reading. Anytime I came to a subject I didn't already have prior knowledge of, I would wonder if what I was reading was factually correct. It tends to ruin your reading experience if you feel like you have to do your own research to confirm what you have read is true. I hope they re-release a corrected version of this book; that I would rate five stars. As it is, I can only give this book three stars.

I bought the book then read the negative reviews and regretted buying the book. The lesson I learned is people will always find something to complain about. So far its interesting and great. I'm glad i bought it.

So much work went into researching this book! It’s very interesting!

This book is full of things I would never even think you could die from. It's done in an A-Z format and next to the word is a short story of how people have or could die from such a thing. I haven't read it all the way yet, I'm about half way through, but I really like it and it has a real cool set up with how its illustraited and all. It makes it entertaining to read. I really like fact/ trivia type books of this nature. So it's really interesting to me.

good book if your into this kind of thing, and morbid mentality in general, factual and amusing at times and informative. Second book by this author. Pretty good.

I should have read the reviews a little more carefully before I bought this book.Kinda boooooring....a moderate amount of misinformation. Not that the misinformation mattered.This book wasn't really educational, fun,or informative. Just- blah.I did get my copy for a penny plus shipping. Worth the price, I guess.

About the Author

Anne Frances Cronin has practiced occupational therapy with children and families for more than 30 years. She received her bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Missouri and a doctorate in Medical Sociology from the University of Florida. Currently, Anne is an Associate Professor at West Virginia University and involved in inter-professional teaching involving students from occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology. Anne has also been involved in professional occupational therapy activities at state, national, and international levels. Anne's initial work in occupational therapy was with adolescents and adults with severe developmental disabilities. It was this work that led to her passion in supporting a life course viewpoint in clinical reasoning. Anne has worked at in-patient, outpatient, and public school settings providing occupational therapy interventions to children and youth. In recent years Anne's clinical focus has been in the area of behavioral medicine with research interests in the areas of cognitive rehabilitation, autism interventions, and support for self-regulation for children with behavioral challenges. In this text, Anne has sought to offer a broad occupation-based viewpoint of life-course development with careful attention to the factors that influence daily participation and optimal performance of desired daily life tasks. Anne is grateful for the support of the Division of Occupational Therapy at West Virginia University for allowing a sabbatical to develop this completely revised second edition.The continuing support of her family and colleagues has made it possible for her to continue to grow both personally and professionally.

arrived early so I give this 4 stars , the only reason I took off a star is the quality of the book and it was highlighted inside by another student , also the outer appearance looks used

Brand new book I needed for my class. Way cheaper than it was anywhere else I could find.

This book only has 22 chapters whereas the the paperback has 26. I was not able to complete the readings my professor assigned. There were also blatant typos throughout the book.

Need for college class. Came in on time and as described. Thank you!

This book is not my favorite by a long shot. The concepts are presented in an odd way and the author uses terms like "sitting Indian style" and (though technically still accurate) mental "retardation." I think there are better options out there.

Had to buy this book for school ~ can't believe there isn't an updated version of this book yet. It's very outdated and there should be a better alternative to offer students so they are not studying information from 2005. There was also very little info on mental health which is imperative for OT students. Oh and the price is ridiculous ~ please ~ this book should be worth $20. What a racket! Hopefully your OT program won't make you purchase it.

It has a great Ebook copy and was very useful in my study.
