In this book Michal Zalewski walks us through the history and the evolution of the architecture of the popular browsers, servers, protocols, and everything in between - as it relates security of modern web applications.Instead of focusing on the usual security acronyms and "attack classes", this book will give you something much more powerful: a bottom up understanding of how a modern browser operates, why it does what it does, and what implications this has for designing more secure applications. This book should be mandatory reading for every web-developer. Highly recommend it.

I am a software engineer currently working on several web app projects. I have a moderate background in web app security and I bought this book in order to gain better insight on the subject.This book is poorly structured. It seems like the author compiled his scribbles and notes into a book without considering how they would fit together. The content is superficial at best and lacks examples. Moreover, it seems like the author has used this book as a stage to talk negatively on internet Explorer (we get it, it's a bad browser). I tried to give this book multiple chances but had to stop reading it around page 150. It's simply a bad book.I recommend to stay away from this book and consider other options (such as Web App Hacker Handbook) to anyone interested to learn web app security.

I'm about 25% through the book and it's a struggle. The book feels very thin in areas and all over the place. Like the Tangled web this book itself is a Tangled mess. It feels like I'm reading an encyclopedia, but without the depth or organization. At other times it feels like an extended dictionary. It's not a very long book either. It's more of a reference book. I'm not sure how this book is highly rated but definitely not a good read in my opinion and if I could, I would get my money back.

The book provides systematic coverage of browser security. The first 6 pages of chapter 1 provide brilliant insight into why formal security models, risk management and taxonomies fail to deliver promised security improvements to organizations that embrace them. I used to explain the same with a lot of hand weaving, Zalewski's approach and insight are far superior.Make no mistake, the book is focused on the browser and related technologies rather than the theory of security. The same tremendous insight, that made me nod with appreciation and wish that I had the book 5 years ago while working on security policies, illuminates browser concepts like in-browser content separation, scripting, and much more.I appreciate the authors treatment of each of the concepts in the context of the browser as a complex and still evolving technology, with it's own history, standards, market requirements and politics.

It's an impressive web and browser insideout.This book is for you, if you want to learn the pitfalls.

So many details where in front of me and i didn't realize until now. It's certainly a book for application security professionals, not for beginners.

I'm going to start with 5 stars & I will update if needs be. I got my book today, & boy was I excited. I played piano as a teen very briefly. I learned how to read music for just the 5 finger stretch around middle C. This was enough for me to dabble, more off than on, throughout the years with beginner books. I want to enjoy the piano, but it is not my primary learning instrument. So my practice is just an enjoyable daily time out with a couple of songs. I wanted to add too my dismally small collection of easy books, otherwise practice is going to be real boring real quick. I also wanted something that would familiarize me with lower and higher notes. I could already workout a limited amount of these notes, but this book, already, has me using them regularly. Working on the first song, is the challenge I needed. It is described as "Love Theme from episode ll." As I attempt to play it, I can feel myself becoming comfortable with more of the piano. I know the later films as I am a child of the original Star Wars, and a mum of children aged for the prequels. Even though my timing is pretty dreadful I can recognize parts of the tune, and I find the melody pretty enchanting. It is pleasing to the ears. Of course, I just want to be able to play Darthvader's theme tune. However, that is later in the book, and that is really going to stretch me. Looks hard. I believe this to be a good book for those with some basic knowledge of piano & the desire to push their abilities. If this book were any easier the songs probably would not be so easy on the ears.

 My sons are year two piano players and lifelong Star Wars fans, so this book is great. It has a few tunes from the prequel trilogy (most notably “Duel of the Fates”), but the lion share of songs are from the classic Star Wars movies. The arrangements are fairly simple and still true to the music.

This has been a life saver for my son. He wasn't really thrilled to play the piano and we had to constantly nag at him to get practice time completed. Once we got this book for him, he started playing the piano more on his own. This is a book for beginners, but he has so much fun playing these songs.

This is PERFECT for kids who love Star Wars and are still early intermediate/advanced beginner. It has large printing which makes it easier for younger kids. My 10yo son who has been taking piano lessons for 2 years was able to pretty easily learn the songs and it kept him playing piano over the summer By Choice! Win-Win!!!

This book is good for young students who have played for about a year.

I'm very impressed by the quality of music this book offers without being overly complicated. My 7 year old son, who has studied the piano for about one year, is able to teach himself some of his favorite Star Wars songs and they sound great!

Great beginning level notation...except when it isn't. Some easy songs are made more challenging by large jumps, but this has not stopped my 2nd year piano student daughter from working at them. She LOVES this book!

I was worried that this might be either too hard for my kids or to easy, but it seems just right. My kids have been playing for a few years and both my older one who plays difficult songs and my younger one who plays less difficult music, both have enjoyed playing in this book. Now they can play the songs correctly and not just guess what notes to play. Even my beginner can at least pick out some of the notes.
