This is a great Bible! I love the NASB version! It is easy to read and is a very literal translation. This Bible has a concordance in the back so you can figure out what each key word means in Greek or Hebrew. This really helps you grow your relationship with God. Many times the Hebrew or Greek word means so much more than what the English word says. For example, the word Greek word for saved is “sozo†which means to save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve, do well, and be made whole. This should change the way everyone thinks about the phrase "Jesus saves".This Bible has many other features that help the reader learn the word of God more. I recommend this Bible to everyone! It is a must to know the Greek and Hebrew meaning of key words in the Bible!
When I looked through Psalms, I noticed that more of the KJV language was being used. EX: Psalm 71;1-2 Should read: "In You, O Lord, I have Taken Refuge; Let me never Be ashamed. In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me and save me." NASB Inductive Study Bible, but in This NASB Key Word Bible, it says, "In Thee O Lord, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed. 2 In Thy righteousness deliver me, and rescue me. Incline Thine ear to me, and save me." I specifically ordered the NASB translation, and I am returning this because it almost seems like it's part NASB, and part ASV, or KJV.... Not what I wanted. It seems like they forgot to change the translation in parts of this Bible.
This is my ultimate go to Bible! I prefer the NASB as it is the closest word for word translation to english out there. It's an excellent resource for those of us geeks that want to know what the meaning of everything of is. As with any of the other Bibles that I own the only thing lacking is maybe 20 -30 more bookmarks. The leather cover is durable and I thoroughly recommend this Bible.
I wanted the leather Burgundy with gold page trim, thought page would be thicker to highlight but it bleed through! Pages are so thin I find it hard to keep this bible long for I'm always flipping back and forth afraid I'll tear a page. Not labeled where the concordance start, the Hebrew dictionary start nor the greek. Need tabs and some color coding, thicker pages for highlighting. Need a finger page turner, very thin snd smooth.I'll just give it to someone who needs a Holy word!Good about it is print is large enough to still read. Even the study tools. Some time I find I'm using my contacts, glasses and magnifing glass mostly my eyes are tired but I enjoy the Word so much. There is 4 color maps print is easy to read , 12 font I'm guessing.
This bible is excellent. The extensive translations of Hebrew and Greek words in the back reference area with links to words throughout the text is extremely useful in really understanding what the passages really meant. If you want to understand what words mean in a translation that's as close to the literal greek and hebrew as possible this is the version for you. Me and My Fiance have the same Bible. My Mom and Dad have the same one. It's very heavy and big, but wonderful for reading as well as study. Will last me forever.
As I learn more about the Bible, I find more I want to study. It's funny that way. It's the only book simple enough to be understood by all, but complex enough that scholars can devote their whole lives to its study and not come close to plumbing its depths.This Bible supplements my NIV Hebrew Greek Key Study Bible, as I wanted a more literal translation for this sort of study tool. I purchased the leather bound version, and am very happy with it.All the awesome grammatical tools are present, except for a few differences, such as the dictionary being that of Strong's work, instead of the more modern Kohlenberger.What this Bible contains:Bible text of OT and NTGrammatical aids to the NTLexical aids to the OT and NTNASB Concordance of OT and NTGuide to transliterationStrong's Hebrew and Greek DictionariesMapsPros:- This Bible is a little better suited to word studies, as it is a more literal translation.- The layout of most of the Bible has slightly larger text for easy reading, without being too bulky.- There are key notes that are usually extremely helpful and consistent with conservative, exegetical scholarship- The cross references are very beneficial- Despite this being a different and complicated system of notation, visual layout of the features on a two-page section in the front of the Bible make it easy to learn to use.Cons:- It uses Strong's dictionaries rather than Kohlenberger's lexicons. Strong's definitions are based on Thayer's Greek Lexicon, which is dated scholarship that is no longer the best source, and which confuses classical and Koine Greek frequently, causing incorrect assumptions. (This is the reason for this getting only 4 stars)- The dictionary in the back appears to be a copy and past from another work, as the text is shrunk and very difficult to read, with a large blank space at the bottom of the page indicative of being copied from another sized page than what is used in this Bible. The Greek and Hebrew characters are very difficult to make out because of this.In deciding between the NASB and NIV versions of this extremely valuable study tool, I am torn. On the one hand, you have the literal text of the NASB 1977 version but with Strong's dictionary. On the other hand, you have the thought-for-thought NIV Bible that is harder to do word studies in because of the way it is translated, but you have the Kohlenberger dictionaries, which are much more valuable for word study. This makes it very difficult to choose.Overall, this is an outstanding tool for study and I would recommend adding it to your library of Christian study aids.
I have givien this a 5 star because after owning most of your major study Bibles, I have found this Bible to be a valuable study tool. The keyword Strongs is a great tool to have when your doing Bible research. I have not given all the notes a fair evaluation as of yet, but what I have read seems fair enough. I would prefer not to have notes in this particular Bible unless only a keyword explanation which they are for the most part. The Bible itself is very good quality. I have both the hard bound and Leather and both are well made in my opinion. If your looking to get away from heavily biased notes but you still want some help in understanding a verse than I would highly reccomend this. If your a KJV reader I also reccomend the Master Study Bible. The information in the KJV Master Study Bible is incredible especially for the price.
