Be prepared to spend a lot of time debugging their sample code and the installation instructions for the various software packages. Most of the examples in the book do not match the sample code or data provided. And much of what they refer to in the book is not included in the samples. On top of all this, they even manage to mangle their examples just within the book itself. As an example, they walk through a data exercise first using mapreduce. Then they try to do the same thing using spark. But the spark program produces incorrect results. Yes, it works, but it isn't what mapreduce produced, or the book claimed was the expected output.On the plus side, the best way to learn something is by doing and this book will give you plenty of opportunities to figure things out on your own. That's always a plus. But not for the authors.

Good book to start Big Data with.

I really like this book. It is a great overview of a plethora of topics around doing scalable data analytics and data science. It is extremely up-to date, going through techniques that have existed for many years now like MapReduce, but also newer systems like Spark, all in the context of the Hadoop eco-system. They go into machine learning techniques, data management, and overall paint a nice picture around what data science is, and why data products are important, while teaching you how to make them!Every single concept is explained in a clear and concise manner, and wherever details are omitted there is always a citation to a source where the reader can continue reading more about it, which I think is great. Although I wouldn’t classify myself as a beginner, I believe it is friendly to both professionals and beginners, as it is centered around python which makes most examples (that are conveniently uploaded in a nice github repository) really easy to simply run and play around with. After describing something, whether that would be a technique for data analysis, or just the in-and outer workings of some analysis platform like HBase, Hive etc, the authors provide examples so that while you’re reading about this stuff you can also run it, play around with it and really explore how these systems function; I believe this is a crucial part of familiarizing ones’ self with new platforms.Another thing I enjoyed a lot was the ending of this book. After you really dive into all of these systems and get your feet wet with each one of them, the authors wrap it all up in a nice bow by taking a step back and describing the entire end-to-end process of how you would go about productively using the knowledge you’ve gotten from this book to build data analytics workflows!I highly recommend this to anyone who both knows that they want to learn how to deploy scalable analytics workflows in 2016, but also to readers who are simply just curious about data science; this book will suck you in!

2nd Update: Still reading and may not be even 1/2 way through reading the book. Why the rating?1) There is so much concrete information here.2) This is in depth and about as technical as most of us non-medical professionals can handle, however, Dr. Osansky is very good at making this highly technical information understandable.3) Comprehensive covers ALL the bases adrenal issues, triggers, stress, pathogens, diet, sleep, water, hormones, detox (chemical/electrical/+), exercise and more and as noted earlier there is a lot not just a smattering that leaves you wondering.4) There are tons of books out there on thyroid and even specifically Hashimotos but none compare to this; even the really good ones.5) My personal experience with this disorder. I was ready to start AIP when I started listening to the webinar, afterward, I was sure AIP was my next step. I've spent the past couple years+ clearing out pathogens, detoxing, upping the ante on dietary changes by getting tested for allergens and food sensitivities, I exercise regularly and daily practice multiple stress reduction techniques, am treating adrenal exhaustion, I'm on NDT and have been on 4 brands now plus years on Synthroid and Cytomel but my TSH is still high. When I increase my dose I get hyper (not good for adrenals or sleep and heart rate goes way up so exercise is difficult). I'm 11 days into the AIP and really feeling even better, I don't know where to turn to get that TSH down. I've felt horrible for over 20 years - brain fog, to overwhelmed to brush my teeth on a regular basis much less cook for myself. I have 3 great doctors (chiropractor, naturopath & general practitioner) who currently assist and direct (with more before- from coast to coast-literally San Franciso to Washington D.C.), but with my TSH high I have to do something else. I believe I have found the answers I need to turn this around. For some time now I have known my ultimate goal is to manage symptoms and then I found out it is possible to get the autoimmune component into remission, so that has been my newest goal. I hope to check back in with this review in another 2-4 weeks to update on progress. At this point, I recommend the digital version (handy to take along and the hard copy of the book - there is just too much information here and this is great reference information to have on hand and to be able to take to your doctor. This is breakthrough and must have information for anyone with Hashimoto's and probably Graves although Doc may have a book just on Graves since his personal experience is with that. I have a half of a thyroid myself, and I've had my shares of struggles with illness & frustrations with the current medical system and endocrinologists. If you have an autoimmune thyroid condition, as much as you may like your endocrinologist, he/she will NEVER be able to address the autoimmune side of the disease. ALL THEY DO is write prescriptions, and wait for your disease to progress.This book is for those who refuse to sit back, pop pills, and wait to get sicker. There ARE things you can do, this book offers practical advice, steps, and science & research-based methods to reverse your disease. You did not develop this disease overnight for no reason, there are underlying issues in your body that your current doctor is not aware of, was not taught in med school, or is unwilling to look for.This book tells you how to find your triggers, what types of tests you need, and how to treat the triggers you find which includes supplements, herbs, etc.

Having read the entire book cover to cover, I can state that there is a certain degree of useful information hidden in this voluminous book. However, this book desperately needs an excellent editor. In its existing state, the book is not worth the price nor the time to try to plow through it if the reader is currently attempting to find immediate assistance in addressing his/her Hashimoto's.The prose is dense and repetitive and all too often, the author rambles part way into a topic only to say, "I'll discuss this in Chapter X." That would be irritating any time, but for someone in the middle of a Hashimoto's flare-up, which is frequently characterized by mental confusion and atypical difficulty in comprehension, these flaws are fatal; it makes the useful information nearly impossible to find and digest. Better writing overall, improved organization of the material, and judicious deletion of concepts that are repeated and re-referenced throughout the book would vastly improve what has the potential to be a useful tool in addressing the myriad frustrations of dealing with a Hashimoto's diagnosis.

This is the most comprehensive book about Hashimoto's that I have ever read. I've been researching ways to achieve remission with this condition for many years and have read most of the top books on the subject. It's rare that I come across new information in this area but I was pleasantly surprised to be taught some new things by Dr. Osansky. He digs deep into explaining the autoimmune component of this condition which I found very helpful. This book is very technical and will likely be way over the head of a newly diagnosed patient. But, it's an excellent reference manual to help someone understand this complicated and difficult to treat condition.

This was a such a great book to read. I bought this book because my wife has had issues with her thyroid for many years since childhood and every few months I’m always going with her to see the endocrinologist for her checkups. I wanted to learn know more about this area so that I can help my wife where i can and have a better understanding on the subject. The author does a great job in explaining about our autoimmune cells, the triggers and how it impacts our health.The author shares a wealth of knowledge in regards to the autoimmune thyroid condition. Highly recommend!

I really like this book except for a few things. The design goes into the binding enough that it is hard to color the whole picture. Also both sides of the page are printed. I don't press hard enough on my pencils to have any bleed thru but for someone using markers or another medium it would be difficult to not ruin one side. It is artful and fanciful and I have enjoyed the actual designs.

I love the designs; they range from easy to color to very intricate. The paper quality is very good, but I do have 2 issues with the book. 1- Images are printed back to back, thus am limited to using only coloring pencils. Some designs have a lot of fine details, and I would have loved to do them justce using very fine tip markers. 2- The actual designs are comprised of two pages. Essentially you have a legal-sized design to color. I would not mind this IF the pages didn't have another design on the opposite page.

Since each of the 42 illustrations cover two pages, the center of the drawing in uncolorable. Check out some of the images people have posted. Without a margin by the seam, the pictures are tucked into the seam. Very bad design.

Coloring has become my new favorite pastime & this book has been the perfect jumpstart to my adult coloring madness! I enjoy the combination of architecture & cityscapes. It allows me to be a little more conservative in my color schemes or run wide with my imagination. I color at night while listening to audio books. It's such an enjoyable [& very inexpensive] hobby! My husband says I've become a true 'Arteest' ;-).

Really wanted to like this adult coloring book, but poor construction has left me quite frustrated. The paper rag content is quite low and my color pens bled through not only the other side, but they even bled onto the next page! Since the publishers decided to save money by printing on every sheet, there's a whole 2 page spread ruined. I thought it might be my new markers, but tried them on a different coloring book with zero bleed. Add this to the fact that illustrations go right through the seam and it makes coloring difficult. There are no perforations so you cannot cleanly remove pages; binding is like a normal book. Some of the illustrations are nice, but if you want to use pens and not colored pencils, you will be sorely disappointed.

This is four of four books I bought for hubby who is recovering from shoulder surgery. Was able to take the sling off and I knew he needed something to do to keep him from damaging his shoulder. He has enjoyed the coloring of the cities, is working on one with the sun behind skyscrapers. I asked him his opinion and was surprised at how pleases he is, he is usually quite fussy about such activities. He complained non-stop about a couple of similar crafts I bought for him. Fortunately, we had three boxes of coloring/watercoloring pencils besides the one I bought so he has a good selection of colors.My only negative aspect is that many of the pictures consists of being on two pages, hard to get to the section in-between the two pages. I would prefer that they be perforated so they could be taken out and then taped together when finished to make the whole picture.

Beautiful, interesting, fun pictures I'd love to color with my Copic Sketch Markers. However they make the unthinking mistake of printing on both sides of the paper so you can only color one page and the other is ruined due to bleed through. I have the entire Prismacolor colored pencil set, plus sets by Derwent. Some pictures lend themselves to colored pencils, but some pictures have too much white space, outlines that are too dark to work with pencils, etc. This line of coloring books fall into that category. It would take a lifetime to complete with colored pencils and the outlines are so dark it would just eat up your pencils and not have the quality a sketch marker would produce. Would be a great series, love the pictures, but hate to lose half off the book because the author couldn't print on one side of paper only.

While better than flowers or whatnot, I couldn't engage with this book. After "Fantastic Cities" by Michael McDonald, very few cityscape coloring books give the same challenge, including this one. It might be great for People new to architectural coloring (as opposed to common Mandalay and flower themes).As far as the physical properties of the book, the books deep gutter really detracts from each two-page City. The pages didn't always line up so even if you could get to the middle of the seam, coloring in it is pointless because each spread has no continuity in the drawings. Pretty Basic didn't care too much for the paper either, as I use brush-tipped ones.I've flipped through the book several times, hoping a page to color will grab my attention. Every time, however, I get to the last page with without a selection. Needless to say, my book has no coloring in it.Had I not paid only $1.00 for it, I'd have buyers remorse.

I have to say coloring was one of my favorite past times and this totally had brought that to a new level. This book has some many cool pictures that when brought to life with what ever color choices you choose are simply exciting. I can sit for hours and color and sometimes have lots track of time. My wife who laughed when I told her I bought a coloring book now sits down and colors one side of the page while I color the other. Its become a total blast for us both and is very relaxing.

This is simply amazing! As a beginner, I found this book very instructional. I learned how to do many types of patterns and stitches. The designs are amazing and beautiful. I can't believe being a woman is a tough job in the world and while I am struggling doing my crochet, this thing is just their hobby. I am proud of those people. Great book.

A detailed and illustrated guide to crochet that is great for people like me who've lost the knack. When I was a kid I was shown some of these stitches and could make a few things. The other day a friend invited me to join them on a project and I was LOST. Grab kindle, look for book, thank you Kitty Moore! The illustrations were very helpful, the advices allowed me to keep things more uniform. No, I wasn't crocheting with the best of them. But I did pretty good and it was very relaxing. There are basic projects in this book for you to tackle after you get the basics down.

Never crochet'd before, but since it was free I thought I'd give it a go. The book does a gret job of breaking down what crochet is, and how newbs like me can get started. I don't know how far I'll take it, but it feels good to learn a new skill and challenge myself.

This book is one of the best I read on this topic- you will like it. Everything explained very clear with good pictures, that you can easily to follow the directions and see illustrations to it. Very good content, i liked the patterns, will recommend both for beginners and experienced ones.

Boat race segment was a bit of a stretch for belief, but was minor in comparison to the strong characters and great adventure woven into the rest of the tale. A tale that involved Bio-medicine exploitation, a long disappeared scientist discovered to be a living white goddess jungle queen and sinister corporate conspirators joining a 'Nordic' giantess in attempted world subjugation as sub-themes . Very enjoyable!

HOT TAMALE CLIVE you sure got a winner with this here Masterizzazione. From kidnapping and 10 years with a White godess amogst the wild canibiles to a majestic Norshman war ship then a Flying wing buried in an Alascan ice Cave with a 50 year Protcol and a tunnel under the wood shower. And finally arriving on old padallboat steamer and the death of a 7 foot tall evil bitch and the unfortunate death of the HERO of this book whom I will not reveal for future readers.HA HA.

This was a very good book. The setting and object of the criminal enterprise was approached by vastly different pieces of the completed puzzle. I wondered when I would find the solution as each adventure occurred.Clive Cussler is an unusual author and always presents a good book. This book would be a great movie if the story retained its original version in the movie script.

Assignment series. Yet in both of first two series books we never really understand Kurt Austin's motivation except that it's the right thing to do. I think there's needs to be a more in depth character development of both Kurt and Joe. I enjoyed the book , yet I look forward to learning as much about Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala, as Dirk Pitt and Al Giordano in other Clive Cussler novels.

Kurt and Hi are two of my favorite characters. They have been well developed over the life of the NUMA series, but is always fun to fill in New biography information. I thought I could feel water during the yacht race. The color and humidity of the jungle were palpable. It was a farfetched plot but only too believable in today's world. On to the next Cussler collaboration.

This is another wonderful book by Clive Cussler. I have read all his books. There is great detail, its fast moving where it needs to be and the story line is so very real like that its very believable, something that could be happening today. If you read one of his books, you'll get hooked and have to read them all !!!!! Susan K

Thoughout his career, Clive Cussler has given us villains mostly in the Dr. No or Goldfinger mode--mercantile tycoon types who pull some sort of mega-holdup that endangers the world. And this continues, despite the success of efforts like "The X Files", which articulate the current trendy view that Government--an Orwellian "Big Brother"--is the Antichrist. Corporate America is never--repeat--NEVER the bad guy (whatta you, some kinda Red?) except for Bill Gates--he's fair game because he's a nerd. But Cussler still sticks to his Superbad Guys, and as such, makes it clear that he still loves his country. That the weenies who gave us "The X Files" still do is not so clear. In this book, we have a Nordic Valkyrie who's planning up to exploit the growing water shortage and setting up an aqua-OPEC to gouge the thirsty. If you can afford it, bottoms up. If not, you die of thirst. What delicious evil in an age when the "proper term" for evil people is "dysfunctional"! In this time of ambiguities and moral and philosphical relativism, I LOVE an author who calls a spade a spade! To paraphrase 1960s country/ comic singer Larry Verne; "please Mr. Cussler...don'tcha ever go!"

If you have read any of Cussler's books you know your in for a wild and adventures ride. His books are suspenseful and Heart felt. Blue Gold has you on the edge of your seat and keeps you up all night. Read just one of his books and you'll be hooked forever waiting for his next new story to be published. Thanks for the Journey
